I never had this problem before.
Before my son turned 14, that is.
My husband was never one to sit in front of the TV all weekend watching sports. Until my son got interested in Basketball and then Football. Now he sits and watches too....I guess for that bonding thing.
It seems that when a boy turns a certain age they instantly know all the teams, players and their stats. It amazes me. My son can also name all the makes, models and year of the vehicles we are passing on the road. That amazes me also.
It started around the same time the two of them decided to trade in the Playstation 2 and the Wii and everything that went with them, games and all, for an Xbox 360.
And then for Christmas we got my son a subscription online for League Pass, which allows him to pick the teams of his choice and watch all their games on the computer.
The Xbox is a favorite pasttime after school. Whether it is the basketball video game 2K13 football with Madden 13 or any other Xbox game, he is there playing till dinner. He does all his homework in school, he is doing good in school and he is a good kid. So we let him.
This is what I see when I walk by my room on any given night....
He watches the game of the night with his face within inches of the computer screen sprawled across our bed. This so that I can relax in the living room watching Wheel of Fortune. And then my husband joins him.
Every Sunday we have to rush home from church to catch the afternoon and then evening football games. So today the two games that will determine who goes to the Super Bowl are on. Don't ask me who they are. All I know is that they have been planning on pizza and wings in front of the TV all week.
I make the wings and my husband orders the pizza....cheese with anchovies. What? A new food my son tried and decides he wants on his pizza.
Can you tell this is a guy thing?
I wonder what I will do with myself for 6 hours. We have a big house and one TV. I have the computer to go on but I lose interest after awhile. I could sit with them and watch the games but I don't have a clue what is going on.
Is anyone out there sympathizing with me yet? They have graciously informed me that they are letting girls in for this party and it starts at 3:30.
I would love another girl around to keep me company. My kitty is a girl but she won't come upstairs and hang out with me. It is too warm sleeping on the heating ducts in the basement.
All I know is it all better be over with by the time Once Upon a Time comes on. Love that show!
I guess venting, I mean blogging about it is my only option.
And I just did.
What did you do all weekend?
AnnMarie :)

lol the 'game' is on here too. Only I don't have any yummy treats around. So I will knit and watch the game.
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures of your boys feet hanging over the edge of the bed...
So glad they like to hang out...father and son..that is wonderful.
Anne
haha, that's so funny and so cute. Their dinner party does look fun though.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Ah the joys of football...Love that shot of the feet hanging off the bed. Priceless!

Oh too funny :)
ReplyDeleteYa can't fight it, you just have to let they do their thing, I think it is in their DNA, LOL!!! :)
If it is any consolation, my youngest son, who is the most sports crazy in our home (and that is closely challenged by 2 other males here) is just about to graduate with a degree in Sports management and he just completed an internship in Boston where he got to watch every Celtics home game, which made him so happy, doing what he feels passionate about :)
Have a lovely day, cheers, T. :)
Hi AnnMarie! Thanks for stopping by Seriously Kate.
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed by the anchovies on pizza... I don't think I could even do that. :)
Following you back!

Ditto.......When I would - in my best martyr pose - watch a few minutes of football, it looked like the dumbest game in the whole world. Grown men all tackling each other, falling on top of one another getting up, moving a couple feet, and doing this all over again. Who could stand it?
ReplyDeletePlease don't let Felicia or Sheila (eversewsweet & sewfaithful) hear me.
Hahahaha. I hate football. Good thing Hubby's not a fan or I'd be dying too.
ReplyDeleteNoelle
hahahahaha! love it!! ooooh and I am right there with you on Once Upon A Time. Thats my favorite show :)
ReplyDeleteI sympathized with you at "football."
ReplyDeleteAnd then again at the thought of OUAT being interrupted. That tv show is waaay better than watching a team of guys kicking and tossing a ball around. I'm pretty obsessed with 'Rumbelle', and then Hook. (Oh, how I love to hate that dastardly pirate!)
Kristin
Honey welcome to my world. Except they don't watch in the master bedroom. They usually watch in the family room, or my husband likes to watch the game on the t.v. in the garage when he is working on a project.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting & commenting at my Diana Rambles blog. I am following you now. I am not a fan of football, but I do like the company as my hubby hosts friends most Sundays and we do a big super bowl party. I mostly talk with the other wives.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, following back! Can't wait to get to know you!
ReplyDeleteFound you on the Meet and Greet! Look forward to your venting! It's tough being outnumbered. I have 2 teenage boys, but fortunately they are not into sports.

Funny! I'm a crafty sports fan so I probably would be watching the games too.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, YES! I totally feel for you! My hubby LOVES his sports- if he isn't at work, doing school or out of the house- he is watching sports! Basketball, football, etc. Then he checks espn.com everyday too. Did I mention we have been known to watch 6 hours total of wrestling Mon and Tuesday? LOL! I am so excited about next weeks episode of "Once Upon a Time!!!!"
